Would Manny Pacquiao really fight Mayweather this May 2012
One of the most controversial issues that the Philippine boxing is intrigued about is the issue about Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s 90-day jail sentence. Of course, as Pacman’s provocative competitor, the world is also wondering what Manny should do next to it. Such curiosity has been raised by the Opposing Views on its December 27 article.
According to the news, “a bout between Pacquiao and Mayweather will happen at some point in 2012, that much is about as certain as it can be given this pair’s history. Despite their propensity for backing out of negotiations over the most miniscule and inconsequential of slights, too much progress has been made and too many people’s bottom lines hang in the balance for the fight not to occur.”
You see, since there will be tendencies that the Manny Pacquiao Fight against Mayweather this 2012 would be moved to November instead of May due to the latter’s inevitable circumstances, there will also be some change of decisions that the fight to be held this May 2012 would be different—or should we say, the same since it was rumoured that he will either fight Timothy Bradley or—Juan Manuel Marquez. Yes, speaking of Marquez, would there be tendencies to really fight Manny Pacquiao for the fourth time around?
In your own opinion, what do you think? Would it still serve justice for Marquez to prove that he deserve another chance of fighting our Pambansang Kamao when, in fair view, fought Marquez a good fight for the three times already? Because personally, I don’t really want to know who is the best between Marquez and our Philippine boxer. What I am looking forward right now is the fight that Pacquiao and Mayweather should implement for good.
I actually like the post Alex Groberman posted in his article that indeed, a session versus the undefeated champion would undoubtedly be the biggest challenge of Pacquiao’s career, thus far. “Should he simply rest up and train for the momentous showdown? Or would he be better served staying in fighting shape and taking on someone along the lines of a Bradley, Marquez or Peterson to sharpen his technique before he takes his final exam versus Mayweather?
“Each argument has obvious merits, and whichever option Pacquiao ultimately chooses may have a definitive impact on his overall boxing legacy.
“At the moment, it looks like he’s leaning towards fighting in May. But as we’ve learned from Pacquiao and his management team over the last few years, anything is possible when this cast of characters is involved.” I supremely agree.
