Batang Pinoy Championships as the Latest Philippines Sports Update
Ever since the Azkals and the Galaxy fought a good fight on December 3, including the victorious fight of Pacquiao against Marquez on November 12 and the looked-forward fight against Mayweather next year, the people who made a career in sports finally get the recognition that they deserve. Not only do these famous sport men got the glory and prize that they worked hard on, but even the not-yet famous ones have been given the opportunity to show their talents pertaining sport activities and competition.
What I am talking about here is the latest Philippines sports update that this month will be implemented before we embrace 2012. The 2011 Batang Pinoy National Championships will be implemented at Naga City on December 10-13.
Its official site posted guidelines on what is necessarily needed as far as information is concerned. Here are the details posted:
1. All gold and silver medalists of the Mindanao, Visayas, Northern Luzon, NCR and Southern Luzon Legs shall be eligible to participate in the 2011 Batang Pinoy National Championships. For Lawn Tennis, however, only gold medalists shall be considered to compete in the national championships.
2. PSC shall provide food to all accredited/enlisted athletes and coaches participating in the national championships from December 9 to 13. List of gold and silver medalists may be accessed at the website: batangpinoy.psc.gov.ph.
3. The host city shall provide billeting facilities to all accredited/enlisted athletes and coaches. Parents, guardians and chaperons shall not be allowed to stay in the billeting facilities.
4. Participating athletes (gold/silver medalists) in Athletics/Swimming may compete in other events (under the same sport) in addition to the events they earned gold/silver medals.
5. PSC shall provide buses for Manila-Naga-Manila trips available on the following dates:
• Manila – Naga – December 7-8
• Naga – Manila – December 12-14
Note: Trip schedules and other details will be provided after the LGU’s confirmation of attendance with Mr. Fred Joves.
6. Reimbursement of bus ticket/s (Manila-Naga-Manila trips) of accredited/ enlisted athletes and coaches shall be allowed for those who WILL NOT avail the bus service. Ticket/s shall be collected by PSC.
A reminder was imposed that participating LGUs are advised to bring the BIRTH CERTIFICATE of their athletes (NSO or Local Civil Registrar issued), and other proof/documents required by the PSC.
Since Naga will be the host vicinity in implementing this event, the city’s mayor John G. Bongat had an arrangement with the commissioner of the Philippines Sports Commission (PSC) Joaquin ‘Chito’ Loyzaga, according to sports blog updates. They have looked forward to this event especially that this is a sports program executed by our very own president partnered with the PSC along with the DILG (Department of Interior and Local Government) and DepEd (Department of Education).
“Our goal is to use the event to identify talents for the World Youth Olympics in 2014. This would also give the out-of-school youths the avenue to display their talents in a nationwide tournament,” said Commissioner Loyzaga on the revival of the youth sports event.
