Azkals against Spanish and Korean Football Clubs
There are more than 1,000 people were killed and 1,000 other were still missing when Sendong unleashed its wrath in Southern Mindanao Philippines last Dec. 17, 2011. Due to this, the local football players, Philippine Azkals will play with opponents Spanish league team CFIM Internacional de Madrid as charity for the Sendong survivors. On January 7 is the scheduled friendly league at the Rizal Memorial Stadium, which is dubbed as ‘Dili Kamo Nag-iisa.’
The expected money to be generated on this charity game is about P1.5 million. The main beneficiary of the said match is the Philippine Red Cross that made known the figure on Thursday last week as for the game preparations to organize for the benefits of the Tropical Storm Sendong’s casualties.
According to the secretary-general of the PRC, Gwendolyn Pang with her interview in SunStar, “About P1.5 million will be raised from the match. This will come from ticket sales and proceeds from our donation booths,” some of the money to be gathered will be used to provide livelihood and shelter for the victims.
For the Philippine football upcoming big event, Joseph Ladrido, the local organizing committee member said in a split interview that with regard to preparations in the event everything is going well.
Aside from the match of Azkals against CFIM, top Korean football club will also play in opposition to the Philippine greatest football team. This match also aims to reinforce fund-raising for Sendong’s victims in Cagayan de Oro and Iligan City as well.

Many members of the Icheon Korean Team have World Cup experience. The Azkals will have to be in top form in order to win this game,”
Being likely to join by the standouts from the UFL and the Under-23 team match, the Azkals is expected to learn new tactics from the Icheon booters.
